 Seamless aluminum eavestrough are generally roll formed from coil that is available from manufacturers in three thicknesses:


— Light weight 0.57mm or (0.022 inch) gauge coil used only by the most budget-minded of installers and can be found on some new construction projects. Light weight gutters often wrinkle and bow between anchors, allowing water coming off the shingle to drip behind the gutter at various points – most common on longer gutter runs.

–Medium weight 0.66 mm or (0.027 inch) gauge would be considered standard builder-grade gutter | eavestrough coil .We found it most reasonable for its price and durability and suitable for many regular residential use. But be advised – light and medium gauge eavestrough are also often easily damaged by ladders and tree branches.

— Heavy weight 0.79 mm (0.032 inch) gauge aluminum coil used when maximum strength and durability are desired. More durable, more expensive.

The thickness or the gauge of the gutter | eavestrough is very important. Primary aluminum is the thickest and most consistent available. The optimal thickness for low slope roofs is 0.66 mm (0.027 inch), or better 0.79 mm (0.032 inch) gauge is for upgraded, custom build homes or high pitched roofs, so when buying aluminum gutters, insist on primary aluminum, which is the best. Avoid secondary aluminum, a recycled product that’s often plagued by inconsistent thickness.

COATING PROPERTIES: Gentek Aluminum products are manufactured with AA3000 series
alloy (or equivalent). Both sides of the aluminum are cleaned with a specially formulated
cleaner. The cleaned aluminum is then treated with an acid solution containing chrome to
enhance corrosion resistance and coating adhesion.
The topside of the pretreated aluminum is coated with a thermoset polyester polymer which
is dried and cured at about 450 deg F., forming a hard but flexible and weatherable coating.
Total coating thickness is approximately 18 micrometers.
WEATHERING AND TESTING: Gentek products are tested for superior adhesion and forming
properties. Gentek’s stringent colour specifications allow batch to batch mixing of product.
Product testing includes colour, film thickness, gloss, hot water/impact test, freezer/impact
test, salt spray, humidity testing (1000 hrs.) and outdoor exposure (2 years).
COMPLIANCE: All Gentek Soffits comply with CAN/CGSB-93.2-M91. In addition, the aluminum
alloys used meet the ULC Standard CAN4-S114-M80, defining the noncombustibility of aluminum
alloys.

WARRANTY: 40 Year Limited Warranty. Warranty is transferable.

EAVESTROUGH (also known as eaves trough, eaves, rain gutter or simply as a gutter)
is a narrow channel, or trough, forming the component of a roof system which collects and diverts rainwater shed by the roof.
The main purpose of a rain gutter is to protect a building’s foundation by channeling water away from its base. They also help to reduce erosion, prevent leaks in basements and crawlspaces, protect painted surfaces by reducing exposure to water, and provide a means to collect rainwater for later use.

Precautions
Clogged gutters can cause water leakage into the house as the water backs up. Clogged gutters can also lead to stagnant water build up which allows mosquitoes to breed and also allow grasses and weeds to grow in the gutter. Eavestrough and downspouts need to be checked and cleaned twice annually and more often during the rainy season if there are tall trees near the house. Use a small garden shovel to clean gutters and insert a hose into gutter drains to flush the downspouts.

FASCIA is a type of roof trim which is commonly used on houses. It is mounted on the exposed ends of rafters or the top of exterior walls to create a layer between the edge of the roof and the outside. In addition to serving an aesthetic function by creating a smooth, even appearance on the edge of the roof, fascia board also protects the roof and the interior of the house from weather damage. Not all styles of home design feature fascia board, but many do.
